What a Glorious Feeling!

There is a buzz all over the Piedmont Triad - it's raining! It is 6 am and I am soaking wet. I got up to the sound of the pitter patter of the wet stuff. I ran to the front door and just couldn't help myself. I opened the door and stood under the maple tree right off my porch and got slapping WET! I danced around in the red mud from where the water line was repaired last weekend. I slipped and fell but who cares? It is RAINING and I let that glorious stuff wash me off. As I sit here, I am shivering a little bit - the window is open and a sweet, almost muggy breeze is wafting through - I am giddy, senseless, delirious.

In an hour I will be at work fixing hair on my weekly Friday customers. Little ladies like Betty, and Betty and Marie and Susan and Betty and who cares how popular that name was way back in the day? Today they are all beautiful to me and they will have to get their bonnets out, umbrellas and I will spray an extra dose of spray for good measure. How about an extra dose of Freeze n Shine, Maude?

Haven't listened to the weather programs. They lie. For weeks we have heard, rain is possible this week. And it has rained everywhere but the Hill! All of that is behind me and fine with me this moment. We are getting pelted with RAIN! Great big heavy drops!

I am really running late and will update later one. I just had to share my little bit of personal joy with you this morning!

I'm singing in the rain, just singing in the rain; what a glorious feeling, I'm happy again!

I love rain...but I love little old ladies more....I always worked in Nursing Homes ...first as a Candy Striper , thena Nurses Aide then finally as an LPN ... I love the lederly sooo much, even more than babies and puppies....such a wealth of living and wisdom and humor ...my gosh they can be so funny !!! When I stopped working to stay at home with my youngest, I had a friend who owned her own beauty shop and just for a little Me money, I worked a few hours a week in her shop as the Shampoo girl and receptionist....Oh how I loved those little old ladies Some came in with more hair on their heads than Sampson must've had , others with little more than a single strand of proud silver, and they would need to get it "done up right" and it reminded me of the little guy in Who-ville from The Grinch cartoon, and he combed and coiffed his single hair and sprayed it with hair spray....Too funny... I think she used Aqua Net in her shop ?? Then she even had spare little plastic bonnets the ladies could use to cover their precious "weekly" hairdos with, in case we got an unexpected rain shower and they were by chance unprepared......
I got yelled at once or twice for pulling the rollers out just a little too soon before the hair was completely dry and Lord if the curl didn't stay till next week they just didn't know what they would do.....
just like Nursing....I think being a Beautician is such a giving profession...it must make you feel like a million bucks to make all those ladies beautiful !!!
Sorry I just couldn't resist writing all this, just brought a flood of memories for me reading your post today !!!
Hugs to you....
Robin

I need to send my mom in, you sound like you could give her the rain proof do of her dreams. She likes hers set in cement now! She always carries her little rain bonnet too! Love your blog!

Have fun Blondie.
My Mom always went to the beauty shop every Friday. She slept on a silky pillow case so her hairdo would last a week. Yikes!

Isn't it fun to let loose every once in a while? My kids always loved that I was willing to jump in the puddles with them. Wonder what they would say now that they're pretty much grown up?

Oh, Blondie, blessings here too--we had rain last night and some today, with the hope of more to come this week. We're 20 inches below normal so far this year, so every bit helps, even if it means a bad hair day or two!

Blessings to you~

Blondie, Blondie! We just had 30 inches of rain in a matter of about 18 days. I thought I was going to need a canoe. I was lucky enough to NOT get flooded, but parts of the city -- well, let's just say they WERE riding in canoes down the streets.
