One down, one to go

Hello Folksies
Been mostly under the weather this past week, during which time I became well acquainted with every dust bunny in my house. Wonder why when I don't feel well enough to stand up I have the insatiable urge to clean but when I am feeling fine and dandy that cleaning is the last thing on my mind. I declare as I was lying in my sickly stupor all I could think of was if I died the people who came to get my body would know what a slob I really am. Thank goodness I am feeling better. I will clean later on.
Actually, I took a little bit of time to finish up a small project requiring some hand work. Two dear friends of mine asked me to make a few small quilts out of shirts which belonged to their Dad. Added to that was some very old and vintage fabric of their Mom's. After much cleaning, pressing, cutting and sewing, I found that I learned a whole lot during the first top. I finished the binding on it today, washed it, dried it and here it is:

It is not really big, but not so small either. Just big enough to cuddle under.
I quilted by hand lots of flowers, butterflies, hearts, and curliques. The blocks aren't perfect, but then again, neither am I. I know that the sisters will cherish having their Daddy's arms around them.

I love how a freshly laundered quilt just crinkles up and feels instantly softly aged. Now on to complete the second one.

What a beautiful idea, and the quilts are just outstanding!!!! A work of love and something that will be so cherished, I'm sure! So sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Funny, though, how the weirdest thoughts of dying seem to fill our minds as we feel sorry for ourselves. I always see the messes, the cobwebs, stuff sticking out of drawers, and DUST! I think it is definitely the friend of the sick and ailing!

Yes, Cora and you can see how quickly I banished the thoughts of cleaning once I was able to stand back up! LOL. My house is very patient. And you are right. Dust bunnies like me loads! They keep inviting their friends to visit.

I was sick and did the same. I cleaned. My husband thought I was crazy!!

That is a nice quilt. I am sure they were thrilled with it. I am starting on a memory quilt this next week as well.

That is just lovely Blondie and you may make me a quilt anytime you please! LOL I'm glad you are starting to feel better. I was down for two weeks with the crud and then the pollen started. Still coughing at the end of the third week - YUCK!!! I'm sure people at work are getting tired of hearing that LOL Have a wonderful spring.

How pretty! You picked out a bright and cheerful border print too!

It's funny, but I don't notice the dust either unless I'm really tired or not feeling good!

Hiya Donna
That border print is some from the bag/box that the sister's "Mom fabrics". Most were unusble and I really shouldn't have used this as it was mixing up the fabric textures and blends. Made it more difficult to get stuff squared up - but it looked so nice with the theme. So, I made do, looks really homey. Feels even home-ier. LOL
